SPEC 2008 is being organized by the Department of Electronic Engineering, NED is hosting an event this event which will provide a platform where engineering students can present their talents.

The SPEC is in its third year starting off from SPEC 2006 which the first endeavor in which 36 Electronic projects were displayed. The tradition followed in SPEC 2007 where 46 projects were displayed and attracted more than 800 students and faculty members. in 2008 the event is now expanding its boundaries from Electronic Engineering to Computer Systems, Information Technology, Electrical and Telecommunications Engineering. The event will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2008. This year they expect more than 300 participants from all over Karachi and also Pakistan who will come together to participate in the event

Registration deadline was initially 30th March but has been extended to the 5th of April if you are willing to show off your electronic talents and are enrolled in an undergraduate engineering school then head on over to the registration page HERE or have a look at the Rules and Regulations PDF

The good news, as you will see in the immediate future includes:

• NED Alumni Association of Silicon Valley (NEDians SV) is being formalized as an organization.
• NED Alumni Association of Southern California (NEDAASC) is coming to fruition, too.
• Two academic competitions are being held at NED (TechElite08 and SPEC2008), and which we’re hoping to get regular updates on.

At the NEDians Convention 2007 held in Silicon Valley, the degree of separation was at most two. Even with the oldest graduate from 1965 and the youngest from 2002, no two NEDians in that convention had to look for more than two contacts in between to personally know each other.

The NEDians’ Convention 2007 held on Saturday, September 8, was an all-day program. The morning session, attended by over 150 people, mostly NED alumni, was held at TechMart in Santa Clara; the evening program, attended by close to 400 people, was at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in San Jose. (more…)

First of all, apologies for disappearing on the community for a while. I had had a family emergency and then got backlogged with various things, including the recent events in Pakistan.

The purpose of this blog was always long term, and not just for the convention. We do plan to keep going. There are events NEDians are part of–and events in the lives of NEDians; a pending “answer” to a riddle we’d posted here; updates on NEDian organizations around the world; NEDians expressing opinions–even an NEDian security consultant who’s views and assessements can now be heard on Pakistani television–via YouTube. And I have been working to expand the team and see if we can recruit an editor. I think I am almost there…

So, let’s get down to business.
